Researchers did magnetic resonance imaging of 14 people during meditation. They performed both types of mediation. However, the team found that indirect meditation induces a higher activity of the brain devoted to thoughts and feelings devoted themselves.
– I was surprised when I found that brain activity is greatest when the person you wander around, than when the brain is working to focus on one thing. When participants stopped to meditate, not anything special happening in the brain, said Dr. Ian.
The findings reveal that indirect meditation is effective in letting go of the mind, which allows emotions and memories to relieve.
